Orbyt and Siirto Partnership: E-Invoices Directly to Mobile Banking

Orbyt is expanding its invoicing delivery capabilities in Finland through a partnership with Siirto. The collaboration enables e-invoices to be delivered directly into consumers’ mobile banking apps – without requiring separate e-invoice agreements.

Processing millions of invoices each year, Orbyt combines strong local expertise with scalable invoice lifecycle management. Together with Siirto, we enable direct e-invoice delivery into consumers’ mobile banking apps – securely, seamlessly, and without added complexity. As Siirto expands into e-invoice banking apps reception before summer, issuers gain a powerful new way to accelerate digital billing in Finland.

For Orbyt customers, this means a more seamless and reliable way to reach consumers through trusted banking channels, while maintaining existing invoicing processes and formats.

E-invoicing Made Easy with Siirto

Siirto, which is widely known in Finland as a real-time payment method operating within banks´mobile applications since 2017, is now expanding its services. In addition to person-to-person payments and online purchases, consumers will soon be able to receive both recurring and one-off e-invoices directly to their banking channels.

This expansion does not introduce a new invoice format or delivery channel. Instead, it simplifies the delivery of standard Finvoice e-invoices by automatically forwarding the consumer´s e-invoice address to the biller.

Through Orbyt’s integration with Siirto, customers can activate this functionality without modifying their existing invoicing systems or processes. The new functionality brings significant benefits, including reduced paper invoices, more efficient billing processes, and cost savings for Orbyt’s customers.

Why this matters

Across Europe, digital invoicing adoption continues to grow. However, the “last mile” of invoice delivery to consumers remains fragmented in many markets, often requiring separate agreements, manual activation steps, or alternative delivery methods.

By combining Orbyt’s invoice lifecycle management capabilities with Siirto’s banking channel reach, the partnership addresses this challenge directly in the Finnish market.

Leveraging existing banking infrastructure increases delivery reliability while reducing complexity for both billers and consumers.

“I am looking forward to Siirto’s new e-invoice address lookup service, as I see this service significantly increasing digitalization in invoice delivery in Finland. In many other Nordic countries, a similar service already exists, and the digitalization rate for invoices has risen to over 90%. In Finland, the corresponding share is currently around 78%, and consumers still receive paper invoices from various service transactions far too often. However, I believe that through Orbyt’s collaboration with Siirto, Finland’s digitalization rate will rise, and in the future, more and more consumers will be able to choose e-invoices instead of paper invoices across different services.”

Outi Strengell-Hytönen, Country Director, Orbyt

“Our partnership with Orbyt is an important step in making e invoicing truly effortless for consumers and billers alike. This collaboration accelerates the shift toward digital, reliable, and sustainable invoicing in Finland.”

Mikko Ketola, CEO, Siirto

How Siirto Works

Siirto consolidates e-invoice addresses into one registry. When an e-invoice address is requested, Siirto forwards it securely to Orbyt. Invoices continue to be delivered as standard Finvoice e-invoices directly to consumers´ banks.

To ensure secure and accurate delivery, Siirto matches verified customer data provided by the biller – such as phone number, address, or personal identity code – with the information held by the bank. If the customer cannot be confidently identified, the invoice is not forwarded, and an alternative delivery method can be used.

The forwarding of the e-invoice address is handled automatically. Consumers receive invoices directly in their online or mobile bank and pay them as usual. No separate e-invoice agreements are required; activating Siirto in one’s bank is sufficient.

Strong Adoption and Expanding Coverage

The service operates inside banks´mobile apps, which together have more than one billion annual sessions. Initially, OP and Nordea – Siirto’s owners – will support the renewed service, covering over 70% of Finnish consumers. Additional banks will join before the end of the year. Siirto´s target is to reach 90% coverage of Finnish consumers by the end of 2026.

The updated Siirto will launch before the summer. More detailed timing will be provided closer to the launch.
